Prep-First Painting for a Truly Finished Room
Before the first coat goes on, we repair visible flaws, smooth rough areas, sand where needed, and prime problem spots. The difference shows in the finished room, and it's what sets us apart.

Our Prep-First Painting Process
We listen first, prepare carefully, and paint with the finished result in mind.
1. Listen
We ask about your goals, priorities, and budget, then provide a personalized estimate that details everything we plan to do.
2. Prep
We patch visible flaws, smooth rough areas, sand where needed, and prime problem spots. For more extensive damage, we can also resurface walls or ceilings where needed.
3. Paint
We paint carefully, check coverage and clean lines, then walk through the finished project with you.
Who we are
When my wife and I moved to Collierville with our children, we brought three generations of drywall finishing and painting experience with us. It began in 1960, when my grandfather, Bill McEvoy, came from Ireland with his young family and learned the trade to build a new life. He passed it to my father, Kieran, who later passed it to me. Over the decades, our family has helped generations of homeowners care for and improve their homes. I'm proud to continue that tradition here in Collierville, Germantown, and the surrounding area.
A Great Paint Job Starts With the Surface
Fresh paint cannot fix poor prep. If the wall underneath is rough, damaged, stained, or poorly patched, the finished room can still look unfinished.
McEvoy Pro Painters comes from a family trade background built around surface quality. Our painters know how to find and fix the wall flaws that make paint jobs look rushed, cheap, or incomplete.
Paint only looks as good as the surface underneath. We take the prep seriously so your rooms look clean, cared for, and finished when the job is done.
Sean McEvoy OwnerResidential Interior Painting in Germantown & Collierville
Most disappointing paint jobs are not really paint problems. They are prep problems.
Nail holes, dents, cracks, old patches, stains, and uneven texture can still show after paint if they are not handled first. We inspect the room, explain what needs attention, repair visible wall flaws, and give you a clear written scope before work begins.
Call NowA Clear Process from Inspection to Finished Room
First, we look at the room with you and identify the details that affect the final result, including wall damage, old patches, stains, trim condition, sheen, surface wear, and access.
Then our painters protect the space, complete the needed prep, repair visible flaws, sand and spot-prime where needed, paint the room, clean up, and complete a final walkthrough with you.

-
We offer interior wall painting, full room painting, trim painting, door painting, ceiling painting, stain blocking, multi-room painting, whole-interior painting, and interior painting with wall repair.
-
Yes. Our painters assess the room, repair visible wall and ceiling flaws, prep the surfaces, and paint so you are not juggling separate repair and painting contractors.
-
Paint does not hide everything. If the surface underneath is rough, damaged, stained, or poorly patched, those problems can still show after the room is painted. Good prep helps the finished room look cleaner and more professional.
-
We look at the rooms you want painted, check the walls, trim, ceilings, stains, cracks, old patches, sheen, surface condition, and project access, then give you a clear written estimate based on what the job needs.
-
Yes. Our painters treat visible wall repair before paint as a core part of our work. We sand and spot-prime where needed so the finished room looks put together, not painted over.
-
Yes. Our painters patch holes, access cuts, and damaged drywall in walls and ceilings before paint. We repair the surface, blend the patch, sand, and spot-prime where needed so the finished room looks even, not like a spot that was painted over.
-
Yes. We repair bubbling paint, soft drywall, staining, and texture damage left behind by leaks or past water events. Once the moisture source is resolved and the surface is dry, we patch or replace damaged areas, skim where needed, and prep the surface before painting.
-
Yes. Water stains, smoke marks, and tannin bleeding need more than a coat of regular paint. We treat affected areas with a stain-blocking primer first, then finish with your chosen paint so discoloration does not bleed through later.
-
Water stains contain tannins and minerals that regular paint cannot seal. If they are not covered with a stain-blocking primer first, yellow or brown marks can bleed back through the new paint. We use the right primer for the surface so the finished room stays clean and even.
-
Yes. Painting over active moisture traps problems in the wall and the stain will likely return. The source of the water should be corrected and the drywall dry before we repair and paint. During your estimate, we can explain what prep the surface needs once that underlying issue is handled.
-
Yes. We remove dated popcorn ceiling texture, prep the surface underneath, and get the ceiling ready for a smoother finished look. For many homeowners, this is part of updating a room that feels stuck in an older finish.
-
Scraping is only the first step. The ceiling usually needs patching, skim coating or resurfacing, sanding, and primer before paint. We handle that prep so the finished ceiling looks smooth and even instead of rough or patchy.
-
Homes built before the late 1970s may have asbestos in popcorn texture. If there is any question about age or material, we recommend professional testing before scraping begins. During your estimate, we can help you understand what the ceiling needs and how removal fits into the project.
-
Yes. When dated texture, uneven patches, or rough finish will still show after paint, our painters can skim and resurface walls and ceilings as part of prep. We assess the room during your inspection and explain whether targeted repair or broader resurfacing belongs in the written scope.
-
Yes. Trim painting, door painting, and ceiling painting can be included when you want the full room to feel clean, updated, and finished.
-
Yes. Our painters protect floors and furniture before work begins and include cleanup as part of the project.
-
Before we call the job complete, we walk the finished room with you. If something included in the written scope needs attention during that walkthrough, we take care of it before the project is finished.
-
Most single-room projects take 1 to 2 days once work begins, depending on wall repairs, trim, ceilings, stains, paint choice, and drying time. We explain the expected timeline before work starts.
